Artlandia

Sometimes it seems as if we're doing more art related activities than doing actual artwork itself.

Thursday, we headed off to the Oregon Society of Artists (Oregon Society of Artists, Portland OR) to watch a demo by David Riedel (David Riedel Fine Art).

In a little more than one hour, this magical painting appeared right before our eyes.

On Friday, we drove over to Hood River and checked out the Columbia Center for the Arts (Columbia Art Gallery – enjoy great fine art in Hood River.).  I've been there a few times and have never been disappointed.

Columbia River Gorge

The art center was a feast for the eyes.  The main purpose in going to Hood River, though, was to enjoy the Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour  (Gorge Artists Open Studios Tour).

We met some pretty gracious artists and toured the private studios of Cathleen Rehfeld (cathleen rehfeld • Daily Painting), Christine Knowles (Watercolors & Pastels by Christine Knowles - Home), and pastelist Karen Watson, to name a few.

And, FYI, Portland artists will also be featured in open studio tours in October  (Portland Open Studios).  It's already on my calendar!

  2. It was really fun. And the sky over the gorge is always pretty cool, even on overcast days.
