  5. Chris, Your paintings - all of them - are stunning. What the heck is watercolor batik? I've never heard of it. Do you use wax?

  6. Thank you so much, Jim. To make a painting, translucent rice paper is laid over a waterproof drawing; kind of a cartoon-like drawing / simple with thick lines. Watercolor batik is applying successively darker values of watercolor paint on the rice paper and applying wax to preserve each individual value. When you can't go any darker, you remove the wax with newsprint and an iron. Your painting is revealed. It's not always what you had expected. Hope that didn't thoroughly confuse you...
