Seeing Red

Seeing Red
Watercolor Batik on Rice Paper - 8X10

Cherries bring back sweet memories of my mom's black cherry jello with whole cherries, mandarin oranges, pineapple and pecans.

  1. Love those "graffiti" images below. Your work on the rice paper is phenomenal! Is it Masa?

  2. Thank you, Ms. Sanders. No, the paper is not Masa. It is Japanese Kinwashi, a thinner paper. I tried Masa once and it was too hard seeing through to the pattern underneath the paper.

Some artists use Masa for a batik look - just crumple the paper, dunk it into water, smooth it onto a paper towel and paint directly on it.
