The Day After Tomorrow

When we get a chance to go out for dinner, I like finding a restaurant where the menu is on one page.  Unless I have a "taste" for something, making a decision about what to eat takes forever.

This is also the problem when I have to decide what to paint.  I try sticking to a series or theme, but then get obsessed with something else.  My "taste" for a certain painting subject has a short attention span.

So, the day after tomorrow begins the 30-30 Challenge and I still have no theme.  I've been looking all around me, but everything is so interesting.

Then there's that thing that screams the loudest...

Okay, I got it. That was easier than I thought.  My theme is "People and Animals, Places and Things!"

Hope to see you on Monday.

Flower Girl

Still wondering whether or not the 30-30 Challenge watercolor batiks will have a theme, so I drove over to Lusher Farm to walk around for some inspiration.

Lusher is a feast for the eyes.  It is filled with about 80 community garden plots chockfull of veggies and flowers, butterflies and bumble bees, chickens, roosters, lazy cats, very good looking scarecrows, and the occasional snake (yuck!).  It's a favorite of plein air painters as well.

So, as usual, the clock is ticking and I'm still not sure what to paint - and that's part of the challenge...

1000 Awesome Things

Our dog Cobie.  He is so awesome!

In an effort to avoid getting out of my pajamas, I got on the computer and found a blog that put a really big smile on my face.  I just have to share it.   It's called 1000 Awesome Things.

Here are a few of mine:

Accidental snorts
When someone returns something you lost
Staying up so late that everything becomes funny
Singing the national anthem in a big crowd
Walking in the rain

Drying your hands on your jeans
Eating cookies like Cookie Monster
Wordless apologies
Getting through it
When dreams come true

I could go on and on (I love "That 70's Show"), but I invite you to take a look at the Awesome Things blog and be reminded of a few of your own.

Off to shower!

Watercolor Batiks

Watercolor Batiks on Rice Paper

Summer is winding down and September usually means it's time to really dive back into what I love to do most - art.

Because I signed up for  Leslie Saeta's 30-30 Challenge again, think I"ll do something a little more ambitious this time.  As long as life cooperates, I'd like to do 30 watercolor batiks during the month of September and use them to launch an ETSY shop.

Hope to see you there.
