I is for Ivory Watercolor Batik

Watercolor Batik on Rice Paper - 10X8

“But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that there are no walls between humans and the elephants except those we put up ourselves, and that until we allow not only elephants but all living creatures their place in the sun, we can never be whole ourselves.”

  1. This is gorgeous, Chris!
So strong and the texture is so well-rendered...
I particularly like your elephants. I recently learned that in Africa elephants are almost extinguished because some people want money from their ivory to buy weapons....

  3. Chris, you just make this rice or masa paper work so beautifully in your subjects. It becomes part of them and works exquisitely in this elephant skin. Gorgeous!
