Deco Design

Micron 05 on mixed media paper

Art Deco design of the 1920s has always appealed to me.  Maybe I've been thinking about it lately because we've been watching Downton Abbey for the second time around.

Anyway, it's inspired some new ideas to explore over the next few weeks.

Tangled Up

Lions - my favorites.

Another favorite is our local craft store, The Artist's Palette Studio.  The studio offers a variety of half day classes, so I headed over there a couple of weeks ago and took a beginner Tangled Boxes class.  I was more interested in learning how to make pillow boxes than learning Zentangle patterns, but enjoyed doing both.
Zentangle boxes

The boxes below were made at home from cardstock.  I haven't begun to collect embellishments for the boxes due to lack of storage space at the moment.

These small boxes, to be embellished & filled with a sweet treat or tea candle, will make great welcome gifts at an open studio event.
Some boxes might look good with lions drawn on them.

The store also sells beautiful paper worthy of hoarding.
Origami papers
"Marbled Volcano" paper - might look good on lion collage

"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" - Great footage of lions,
vocals from original band (Tokens) at around the
2 minute mark
