A Little January Color

Watercolor Batik

This is a quick little (very little) batik that was done in between some small house projects.

January has been a busy month, but one of the highlights was receiving this
beautiful pin created by artist Sue Marrazzo.   Sue had a "give away" on her blog, and mailed out a number of these original pins to the lucky recipients.

Art Pin by Sue Marrazzo  - front & back

The postcards were finally mailed to Kat Slowa, host of the Liberate Your Art card swap.   MOO did a pretty nice job with the images I chose:

One of the photos should have been color corrected (by me), but I am still happy with the result.  I found out that it is always a good idea to have high resolution photos made of your favorite pieces of artwork.  And then some of the images had to be cropped or had to be placed within a small black border.  Live and learn.

As I receive postcards from other artists, I'll post them on the blog.
Hope you are still thinking about participating in the fun.

Rocky

Rocky - Watercolor & Pastel / 6X6 (15.24cm X15.24cm)

Using watercolor, I had some fun painting this little guy

until he started looking like this:

A little color lifting and a few swipes of pastel saved the day.

But now I've got this stupid song stuck in my head.

And if you don't like that one, how about this?

That's okay.  You don't have to thank me :}

And for more fun art stuff,  Oregon photographer Kat Sloma is hosting her annual "Liberate Your Art" postcard swap.  Artists from 30 US states and 12 countries participated last year.

Kat accepts postcards from artists in any creative medium:  photography, painting, poetry, sculpture, cooking, ...

Here's the link if the swap appeals to you:  Liberate Your Art 2018 Postcard Swap.
March 17, 2018 deadline - lots of time.
