Resort to Alcohol (Ink)

A routine trip to the veterinarian at the beginning of the week has turned into a nightmare.

Our sweet labrador Cobie is having surgery tomorrow to remove a soft tissue sarcoma (the vet thinks) from his left leg.

Please hope for the best for my boy...

In the meantime, swirling translucent alcohol ink on Yupo paper has been a nice diversion.

Postcards and Patterns

These are the first two postcards I received thru the mail in the postcard swap.
Photos don't do them justice.  They are really beautiful!

Photographer Lisa Comperry - Texas
You can see more of Lisa's work on her website:  wanderingshutterfly.com.

Jane Ross - Rainy Day Sunshine 2018 - Digital Manipulation
Jane's link is unavailable.

Watercolor batik on rice paper

The batik here is a little different from how I normally do them.

I found a free online pattern & printed it on regular photocopy paper.  The pattern was then covered with wax paper and rice paper & was ready to go.

It was quick and fun - nice for a change.

Liberate More Art

Well, its back to the sketchbook before planning some paintings.  I like drawing anything with a face.

My husband Tim taught me to place guide marks on drawings to help with proportions and placement of features.

For some reason, I forget that when the head is tilted, the eyes and the mouth have to be tilted in the SAME direction.   Sounds so basic, but I always want to straighten out the mouth and then wonder why the drawing looks off.  Guide marks remind me to stop doing that (so does Tim).

Here are a few of Tim's paintings that were done from live models:

Mickie / oil on canvas - artist Tim Lally

Mountain Man / oil on canvas - artist Tim Lally

The Traveler / oil on canvas - artist Tim Lally

Liberate Your Art - 2018

Nick Hodgson - United Kingdom / Liberate Your Art 2018
This photograph was taken by Nick Hodgson of Yorkshire, England.  Nick has a Facebook account, but I don't, so I am unable to link.

. . . . . . .

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting talented photographer Kat Sloma.  Kat is hosting the 7th annual Liberate Your Art 2018 Postcard Swap, an international event.
Since we live nearby, Tim and I (and other artists) volunteered to help Kat with addressing and stamping the postcards.

Many of the participating artists / photographers sent in extra postcards as a "thank you" gesture to the helpers.  Here (including the postcard above) is a small sampling of the cards I received.

My photos do not do these gorgeous postcards justice.

Dona Hyll of Kettering, Ohio decorated these beautiful eggs using a wax resist technique.   Unfortunately, there was no link on Dona's postcard.

Photo by Kate Lehman.  Unfortunately, there was no link on Kate's postcard.

Artwork by Melissa from Tennessee

Photographer Carolann Moore from Michigan is on Facebook.

Image by Irish photographer - Instagram "jmirishart," is a private account, so no link.

The official Liberate Your Art 2018 blog hop will start after everyone receives their postcards thru the mail.  I'm looking forward to posting these.
