Thank You

A sincere thank you to everyone for your prayers and good wishes for Cobie.

The good news, of course, is that he is still with us.  The bad news is that the vet removed a nasty tumor, his front dew claw (digit) and a newly discovered cracked molar.

He's had a rough few days.  Tim has had to carry him around (outside and back to the vet for bandage changes).  We've been with him 24/7; our daughter even sleeps on the floor with him.

With the worst behind us, we are all very relieved.

. . . . . . .

And then two postcards appeared in the mail, both brightening our weekend.

The first is from Texas artist Sharon Lane.
You can find Sharon at twistylane.blogspot.com.

"Nine Lives," Mixed Media on Index Card, artist Sharon Lane

The next postcard is from German artist Heidrun Siebeneicker.
You can find Heidrun at www.heidrun7eicker.de.

"Paper Cut Heroes," artist Heidrun Siebeneicker

. . . . . . .

Not much artwork done lately, but here is a peek at the sketchbook:  a two value lion done with a thick Sharpie marker and an elephant drawn with a charcoal pencil.

And again,
thank you very much for your heartfelt comments and prayers for Cobie.

  1. I'm glad Cobie made it this far! I thought a lot about him and you, but didn't get to write a comment. Of course, a tumour is a big problem... . My Leila had one some years ago but the veterinarian said that, this diagnosis would be bad for a younger dog, but not a big problem for an old dog, because it takes years for the tumor to cause problems again. And today she is still fit. I hope that helps you to come along with that problem.

I really like your sketches. No wonder you drew your beloved lions and elephants again:)

You must be so thankful that Leila is still fit and happy. That is everything for the family who cares for animals.

  6. I'm so sorry that you had such worries about Coby, Chris! I'm glad that the surgery went well and that the worst is over. Hopefully his leg will recover fast. Poor Coby and for us humans it's always hard to watch our furry babies suffer.
Your lion and the elephant are both beautiful and I also like the alcohol ink creations of your last post very much. Great landscapes!

  15. glad he is doing OK! :D better to get as much done while under too rather then to have to go under again. dew claws on dog hardly ever serve a purpose and get removed all the time to stop further problems if they are damaged or loose, Sky's are like knives :p and trying to cut them can be a struggle involving bribery :p

  19. Cobie is a doll! We have had 2 dogs similar to him-there's nothing like a black lab! I'm so happy he is doing well. He's smiling in the photo, and for sure he knows how much he's loved! Love the sketch book entries, and the postcards are wonderful!

    Oooops...sorry about caps.
Our pets are our family members for sure so I am not surprised at the wonderful care. If he could talk he would tell you how much he loved you all but you will get the tail ways and kisses.

    1. Thank you so much, Julie. And Cobie does seem to try to talk. We've got him saying, "I love you." Doesn't sound quite as good as when Huskies talk, but it's really funny.
