Lost at Sea

The weather has been great, so I've been outside pulling weeds and sowing flower seeds for cutting later this summer, hence only two small watercolor skies.

Even so, we made time to go to a few estate sales.

I met an artist named Charley who was offering art supplies at deeply discounted prices.  For example, I picked up a box of resin mix for a future project this summer; regular price $23.49 / sale price $4.  Picked up some beautiful paper and acrylic paint, too.
Thank you, Charley.

And then yesterday, we (daughter and I) went out to the coast for a casual lunch in the beach community of Yachts.

There was a bit of coastal fog,

but then the skies cleared

and we went for a long walk on the beach.

It got a little chilly, so we decided to go shopping and came home with a small bag full of goodies:  candles, flavored olive oils, a small purse
and (what else?) beach rocks.

(Lost at Sea.  Come Find Me.)

Hope to see you in a few days.

If not, have a happy week!

Mon regard à moi se perd agréablement dans ces petits cieux aquarellés... De la fraîcheur, du spontané... que du bien-être !

    1. Thank you very much, Carol. So glad you found those papers. It's amazing what people throw away (at least donate it).
There is a small business here in town where people donate art & craft supplies. The supplies are sold at discounted prices, but are given away free to public school teachers. Thought that is kind of neat. Hope you find your Charley.

  12. Hi Chris,
I'm glad you had such a wonderful day with your daughter! Thanks for all this photoes that show so much… I wonder what you will do with the resin, but I think you will show when you will have used it :)
You went home with lots of nice things and beach rocks - did you try to stagg them like Pontus?

Your sky-pictures are so very beautiful. I think it must be very difficult to do them with watercolours. Doing something like that with pastells seems to be easier….

Wish you wonderful days in your garden and I'm sure you are very happy with it after all this long time without a garden…

    Hugs Beate

PS. this "Lost at sea...." looks pretty good and very interesting - what's the background (information) to/for/at... it?

    1. Thanks, Beate. No, I haven't tried stacking the rocks yet, but I will. Still I don't think it will look anything like those gorgeous stacks done by Pontus. Think I have a good spot in the garden though.
And "Lost at Sea" - just something we found in a shop. I usually say I am lost at sea when I can't think of anything to paint, so I bought it when I saw it. It's fun collecting something in addition to rocks when we go to the coast - a mug, a small flag - for a nice memory of the day.

  19. Lovely paintings, Chris. I love painting a sea and a sky. Enjoy your life fully. The first class went well. All children got so excited and happy. Teachers and me, too, happy. Of course, not easy. I review the outcome, lots of research and, now, plan the following weeks. My experience of 3 yrs watercolour workshops for people with disability at Wesley Mission and uni study help me much. Best wishes, Sadami
