Doodlewash June 2018 Art Challenge - #19 & 20

#19 - Pear

A quick painting of a pear was the plan, but the pear kept getting bigger and bigger...
Out came the gouache to try to fix this.

I got started with white gouache where the pear meets the table on the right side.

Then I headed over to the left side and really started messing it up.

Finally, I decided to let go of my control issues, walk away, & call it a day.

#20 - Flower

Figured I would sketch this one out to prevent it from "growing,"
but it started to slip away, too.
It felt good to let it go...

Tomorrow is another day :}

  2. I think it's great that you also show sketches with which you are not quite satisfied! That gives us courage... we always remain students!

  3. Chris, I like both of them. I really like that free, loose effect. You didn't have to worry about fixing anything!

    1. Aw, thanks, Candy.
There's nothing to learn by playing it safe, and there's nothing to lose by posting "stinkers."

  9. these good look to me and I even like the smudge-ness of the pear piece. I think it works. and yeah, I can understand wanting to work on a piece and trying to perfect it and ending up messing it somehow but at least you try, I think that's the good side of art - creating and not really care how it turn out.

thanks for visiting my blog, have a lovely day.

    Gros bisous
